Lions Sellers, Shelby sign with WSU, WWCC to play baseball

KENNEWICK — Trent Sellers has added his name to the list of Kennewick High School baseball players who have gone on to play at Washington State University.

Sellers, a pitcher/infielder for the Lions, signed his letter of intent Wednesday, along with teammate Cooper Shelby, who is headed to Walla Walla Community College.

Shelby will join Southridge catcher Lane Hailey at WWCC.

“I really liked the program and the school,” said Shelby who will receive a full scholarship. “I loved how passionate coach (Dave) Meliah was about the game and how dedicated he is to making players better.”

Sellers and Shelby will have one more go around with the Lions this coming spring, and they like their team.

“Our team was young last year,” Sellers said. “We will have a lot more experience and hopefully make a better run than we did last year.”
