Warriors bounce back to win game two over Shoreline

Walla Walla bounced back from a 15-4 hammering in the first game of a Northwest Athletic Conference baseball doubleheader Sunday at Warriors Field to defeat visiting Shoreline 6-3 in the nightcap.

Larry Dewitt and Brandon Wagstaff collected two hits each to key the WWCC win. Robby Heiberg pitched four shutout innings to earn the win and Jax Evenhus pitched the last two to earn the save.

“It was nice to see us bounce back after getting it handed to us in the first game,” Warriors coach Dave Meliah said. “We took a step in the right direction of figuring out how to play with some sense of toughness.”

Zach Zurbrugg and Harrison Jacobs pounded out four hits apiece to pace Shoreline in the first game. Colton Peha had two of Walla Walla’s seven hits, including a home run.

The Warriors are scheduled to host Olympic on Saturday in an 11 a.m. doubleheader and will host the Prairie Baseball Academy for a pair of games Sunday, also beginning at 11.
