After falling to Tacoma early in the day, the Walla Walla Community College baseball team beat Yakima Valley, 6-2, on Saturday at Warrior field.
Starting pitcher Cameron Walker guided the Warriors to the victory as he held the Yaks scoreless over his first six innings of work. Yakima scored two in the seventh on Walker, but reliever Talon Derrick got the final two outs to get out of trouble.
Walker finished with five strikeouts and just four hits allowed on the day.
“It was nice to see our guys bounce back after a tough game against Tacoma,” WWCC coach Dave Meliah said. “Cam threw well, really kept their hitters off-balance. Travis Haen made some great plays on defense that bailed us out of a couple innings. Austin hit the heck out of the ball the whole game.”
Austin Kopacz went 3-for-4 in the game with three RBI, including a two-run double in the first inning.
