Bakalarski leads Warrior men to opening win

Eastern Oregon University transfer Caulin Bakalarski posted a double-double — 30 points and 12 rebounds — in his Walla Walla Community College debut Friday night to lead the Warriors to a season-opening 95-80 victory over Fairchild Air Force Base in the Dietrich Dome.

Bakalarski made 10 of 21 shots from the field, including 5-of-9 from 3-point range.

Two other Warriors reached the double-figure plateau. Gabe Porter scored 21 points and Dalton Thompson added 17.

The game was marred by fouls. WWCC and FAFB combined for 56 fouls in the game and shot 62 free throws.

“It was good to get a win the first time out,” Walla Walla coach Jeff Reinland said. “They were a mature team. They were not an easy team to play against.

“When we got up 20 in first half, we got a little complacent,” Reinland said. “We need to do a better job moving the ball. It’s time for us to move on and try to get better.”

WWCC hosts its annual two-day Warrior Classic Dec. 2 and 3.
