Warrior men lose second straight one-point game

Brady Widner made two free throws with three seconds left Saturday night to lift Wenatchee Valley to an 81-80 victory over Walla Walla Community College in an NWAC Eastern Region men’s basketball game at the Dietrich Dome.

“We were down 10 at halftime (41-31),” WWCC coach Jeff Reinland said. “They got it up to 13 in the second half, but we came back and led by two.

“We had a possession up 80-79,” Reinland said. “We passed up some shots, then Matt Grooms had an inside bucket that rattled in and out.”

Satchel Schetzle led the Warriors with 35 points and Nate Richards added 22.

Widner ended up with a team-high 18 points for Wenatchee.

WWCC’s next game is Wednesday at Spokane.
