WENATCHEE — Missael Lopez used a Dante Pennell assist to tally a goal in the 84th minute Wednesday that lifted the Walla Walla Community College men’s soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Wenatchee Valley.
The Warriors are now 2-0 in Northwest Athletic Conference East Division play and 5-0-1 overall after notching their fifth straight triumph.
“It was a great team goal that finally clicked when we linked many passes together and attacked from wide,” WWCC coach Ben Rotert said. “I’m proud of the boys. We struggled at times and got away from our game plan. We got back on track for the last 15-20 minutes of the match and really started to put them under pressure.
“At the end of the day, we had to grind a little bit and ended up getting the result we wanted,” Rotert said. “It was another solid team performance.”
Walla Walla plays at Spokane Saturday.
