ONTARIO, Ore. — Walla Walla Community College scored twice in the first half here Saturday in NWAC East region men’s soccer action.
The Warriors had to score to break a 1-1 tie but went on to blank Treasure Valley in the second half and earn their fourth victory in a row with a 2-1 win.
Missael Lopez scored off an assist from Luis Gonzalez at the 8:00 mark. The Chukars got it even at the 26:00 mark as Bryson Maximo found the back of the Warriors net for a 1-1 tie.
It took the Warriors a minute to answer. Freddy Rodriquez, off an assist from Lopez, connected with what proved to be the game winner at the 27:00 point.
The Warriors held the Chukars at bay over the last half, limiting Treasure Valley to only three shots. Alex Grimaldo, in goal for the Warriors, made two saves to help the Warriors to the win.
The win, coupled with Columbia Basin’s 0-0 tie with Blue Mountain, moves the Warriors to 7-2-0 and into sole possession of second place in the East.
The Warriors travel to Spokane for a battle with East leading Spokane, 7-1-1, Wednesday with a 7:15 p.m kick off.
