EDMONDS, Wash. — Walla Walla Community College freshman midfielder Missael Lopez scored a goal and assisted on another as the Warriors defeated Edmonds, 3-0, in a non-league men’s soccer match here Tuesday.
Walla Walla (2-0-1 record) captured it’s second win after opening this season with a tie against Tacoma on Saturday.
Lopez put the Warriors ahead, 1-0, at the 17th minute and that was all the offense they really needed. Sophomore goalie Henry Hernandez ended up recording his second straight shutout with three saves.
Nevertheless, Lopez helped Walla Walla double its lead shortly before halftime, when he assisted sophomore midfielder Emilio Meraz-Rodriguez on a goal at the 40th minute.
The Warriors then added some insurance at the 57th minute, when freshman midfielder Cristian Torres scored off an assist from classmate Enrique Leal.
Walla Walla next plays Monday at home against Clark.
