ONTARIO — Walla Walla Community College’s softball team got a pair of home runs from both Jacie McDaniels and Baily Bennett during a 9-0 shutout of Treasure Valley in the opening game of a Northwest Athletic Conference Eastern Region doubleheader here Saturday.
The Chukars responded with a 14-0 win in the nightcap.
Bennett threw five scoreless innings in the first game and allowed only four hits.
“Our girls crushed the ball the first game and Baily Bennett and Jacie McDaniels worked very well together to keep their hitters off balance,” Warrior coach Shawna Juarez said. “Our first game was a complete team win and it was great to see how well we competed.
WWCC began the weekend with 3-2 and 10-5 losses at Blue Mountain on Friday.
“I was extremely proud of our defensive efforts and the great job the pitching staff did,” Juarez said of Friday’s games. “We did a great job hitting the ball. Game by game, day by day, we improve more and more.”
