Spokane sweeps Warrior softball

Walla Walla Community College’s softball team suffered through a winless homestand this weekend at Warrior Field.

WWCC dropped both ends of an NWAC Eastern Region doubleheader to Spokane on Saturday, 9-0 and 11-2.

Walla Walla also came up short against league foe North Idaho on Friday, 10-5 and 7-6.

The Warriors are 0-4 and 6-10 after their lost weekend.

Catcher Jacie McDaniels drove in both WWCC runs on Saturday with a two-run home run in the second inning. She had three hits on the day including a pair in game two.

Walla Walla held a 5-2 lead over North Idaho after five innings of Friday’s opener. But the Cardinals scored four times in the sixth inning and four more times in the seventh inning to produce a victory.

The Warriors led 3-0 after two innings of game two. But NIC struck for four runs in the sixth inning and three in the seventh to complete the sweep.

“We played NIC very well,” WWCC coach Shawna Juarez said. “Take away one inning of each game and we walk away 2-0. We will continue to learn, grow, develop and progress in all that we do as a unit.”
