SPOKANE — Walla Walla Community College picked up two victories on Friday, 3-2 over Lower Columbia and 8-0 over Mount Hood, and another on Saturday, 9-6 over North Idaho.
In the Warriors’ opener on Friday morning, Rachel Collins pitched into the sixth inning, striking out two Red Devils, before Brandi Schoessler took over to close out the victory.
Walla Walla scored solo runs in the each of the first three innings, while Lower Columbia managed two runs in the third inning.
Emily Thornton had three of WWCC’s 10 hits in the victory.
In Friday’s second matchup, the Warriors rode Schoessler’s complete-game one-hitter to the victory.
The Warriors scored a first-inning run, and then plated seven runs in the seventh to cap the victory.
Mikayla Faulkner had four of WWCC’s 13 hits in the win.
And in Saturday’s victory over the Cardinals, Schoessler picked up two strikeouts in the complete-game victory.
The Warriors held a 3-2 lead after three innings, and the teams were tied at 5-all after the fifth before WWCC scored four times in the sixth to put the game away.
Both teams smacked 17 hits in the game.
Dani Shotswell, Faulkner, and Lyndzie Parker all had three hits for WWCC.
After tallying three victories at the NWAC Softball Championships at Merkel Sports Complex on Friday and Saturday, Walla Walla Community College suffered a 1-0 loss to Douglas on Sunday morning, and then fell to Wenatchee, 6-2, in the afternoon to end its tournament run.
In Sunday’s opener, the Royals plated their lone run in the sixth inning and held on for the victory.
Dani Shotswell had two of the Warriors’ three hits in the game.
In the second game, the Knights jumped out to a three-run lead in the first inning and never trailed.
WWCC scored lone runs in the second and fourth innings, while Wenatchee Valley scored another run in the sixth and two more in the seventh.
