Warrior Softball sweeps Blue Mountain

Walla Walla battered Blue Mountain 16-2 and 8-0 Sunday in a Northwest Athletic Conference East Region softball doubleheader at Warriors Field.

Mikayla Faulkner and Lyndzie Parker each connected for their fifth home run of the season and Hailey Danly slammed her second to power the Warriors in the opener. Parker knocked in four runs and scored three times while Anna Williams doubled and singled, collected three RBIs and scored three times.

Rachel Collins went the five-inning distance, striking out six, walking two and allowing three Timberwolves hits .

Brandi Schoessler pitched all five innings for WWCC in the second game. She allowed just one hit, struck out one and didn’t walk a batter.

Emily Thornton blasted her second home run of the season, a two-run shot in the second inning. Faulkner, Breanna Gibbons and Makayla Kelly had two hits each in the game, with Faulkner and Kelly each driving in a pair of runs.

Walla Walla boosted its region record to 5-3 and is now 10-6 on the season. Blue Mountain tumbled to 1-5 and 4-10.

 The Warriors return to action Friday when they travel to Moses Lake to take on Big Bend in an East Region twin bill beginning at 2 p.m.
