Rough Weekend for Warrior Men's Hoops in Warrior Classic
Walla Walla, WA - Over the weekend the Warriors hosted the Warrior Classic in the Dietrich Dome, facing off against the Gonzaga University Club team on Friday and Bellevue College on Saturday. Walla Walla would drop both games on the weekend, the first in double overtime to perennial club powerhouse Gonzaga, and the second in the second to last game of the tournament against Bellevue.
Walla Walla 112 vs. Gonzaga University Club 115 (2OT - Friday, November 21st)
Neck and neck was the contest for the Warriors the whole way against Gonzaga Club. The score started tied, was tied at halftime, was tied at the end of regulation, and was tied at the end of the first overtime before the Bulldogs were able to pull away in the second overtime period to secure a three point win. In total, the game saw ten ties and twelve lead changes in the fifty minutes of action. Walla Walla had three players finish the game with twenty or more points: Josh Byers (25), Braden Sherrill (21), and Tanner Goldsmith (20). Bennett Pegues added eighteen points himself to go with ten rebounds, collecting his first double double of the season.
Walla Walla 77 vs. Bellevue 82 (Saturday, November 22nd)
Walla Walla found themselves in another close game on Saturday afternoon, this time opposed by Bellevue College who finished the Warrior Classic 2-0. The Warriors took a narrow 39-37 lead into the halftime break, but a couple of late, clutch shots by the Bulldogs were the difference maker and allowed Bellevue to take control late in the game. The Warriors had another solid shooting night, finishing 45.9% from the field and 45.5% from 3-point territory, but they couldn't find an answer to slow down the high-powered Bellevue squad. Trebor Edwards led the charge for WWCC, finishing with eighteen points, including knocking down four attempts from beyond the arc.

The Warriors host Linn-Benton on Monday night at the Dietrich Dome in their final action prior to the Thanksgiving holiday. Tip off is slated for 5:30 PM.
