Warrior Men's Hoops Drops Two at Bellevue Classic
Bellevue, WA - The trip to the Bellevue Classic over the weekend wasn't a friendly one for the Walla Walla Community College Men's Basketball team. The Warriors fell 94-70 on Friday in a rematch with the host team, Bellevue, before also being defeated by a tough Skagit Valley team on Saturday 96-72. With the losses, Walla Walla's record moves to 3-4 early in the 2025-26 season.
Walla Walla 70 vs. Bellevue 94 (Friday, December 5th)
A slow first half coming off of the 10-day break resulted in a hole that was too big to climb out of for the Warriors on the way to a 94-70 loss to a now 6-2 Bellevue squad that finds themselves on a 6-game winning streak. Walla Walla shot 44.3% from the field (27/61) and 31% from 3-point territory, but couldn't slow down a Bellevue offense that shot a staggering 64.2% from the field that included 70 points in the paint. Tanner Goldsmith was a bright spot for WWCC, as the freshman finished with 22 points and 9 rebounds in the loss. Hudson Floyd also added 11 points, and off the bench, Tristan Frimodt and Jake Curtis were both in double figures.
Walla Walla 72 vs. Skagit Valley 96 (Saturday, December 6th)
Jackson Floyd scored 22 points, Braden Sherrill added 19 points, and the Warriors were 12/29 from 3-point land in the contest, but the high-powered offense of undefeated Skagit Valley was just too much for Walla Walla as Skagit Valley was able to run away with a 96-72 victory. The game was back and forth early with WWCC claiming a slight advantage at the beginning of the first half, but Skagit Valley finished the half strong and held a 48-35 lead at the end of the first period of play. The Warriors did everything they could offensively to try to make up the difference, including shooting 54.5% from beyond the arc in the second half, but it wasn't quite enough as ultimately they were defeated for the second night in a row.
What's next?
Walla Walla heads back west over the Cascade Mountains this weekend to the NWAC Crossover, hosted by Olympic College. They will face the host school on Friday at 7 PM, before taking on Pierce on Saturday (4 PM) and Clark on Sunday (12 PM).
