WWCC Men's Basketball Drops Matchup at Yakima Valley
Yakima, WA - The Walla Walla Community College Men's Basketball team took to the road on Saturday afternoon to take on the Yaks of Yakima Valley. In what was a solid shooting effort from both teams, the Warriors fell 100-87 to see their overall record move to 12-14. In NWAC East play, WWCC is now 4-7, sitting one game behind Spokane and two games behind Columbia Basin and Yakima Valley who are all vying for the final two spots into the NWAC Tournament after Treasure Valley and Blue Mountain officially clinched a playoff appearance this weekend.
Saturday's matchup was highly contested back and forth as the game would see 10 lead changes and 11 ties in the 40 minutes of action. Walla Walla held a narrow 5-point advantage with 10:30 left in the second half, before Yakima Valley went on a 25-7 run to close the game and pull away to claim the victory. Both teams finished the game shooting over 50% from the field (Walla Walla: 50.7%, Yakima Valley: 54.8%), but it was a 61.5% shooting day from behind the 3-point arc for Yakima Valley that was the difference. The Warriors would lead the Yaks in both rebounds (36-27) and assists (15-9).
Hudson Floyd led the Warriors with a career-high 29 points on 11/19 shooting to go with 4 rebounds and a team-leading 6 assists. Tanner Goldsmith would register a double-double in the battle, scoring 16 points and collecting 10 rebounds. Two other Warriors finished in double figures: Jake Curtis (12) and Josh Byers (10).

Walla Walla has three more games remaining in the 2025-26 season, the next being this Wednesday (February 18) at Treasure Valley. WWCC will be back at home for the final time on Saturday (February 21) for Sophomore Day against Big Bend.
