WWCC Men's Basketball Falls to Big Bend in OT in Final Home Game
Walla Walla, WA - The Walla Walla Community College Men's Basketball team played a tightly contested game against Big Bend in their final home game of the 2025-26 season, ultimately losing 86-80 in overtime. The game saw 10 ties and 14 lead changes with neither team ever holding a lead bigger than 8 points. With the loss, WWCC now sits at 12-16 overall and 4-9 in NWAC East play.
Despite winning the battle in rebounds, assists, and forced turnovers, the Warriors couldn't quite keep pace with the Viks in shooting, finishing the night 28/71 (39.4%) from the field, countered by a Big Bend squad that shot 55.9% from the field, including 41.2% from 3-point territory. In the first half, Jake Curtis was the bright spot, keeping the Warriors at just a 1-point disadvantage at halftime by scoring 15 of their 29 first half points. The freshman from Boise, ID would go on to lead the Warriors in scoring with 27 points and is now averaging 12.1 points per game, shooting 50% from the field on the season. Drew Hottinger would also put forth a great effort for WWCC, getting the hot hand in the second half resulting in 19 points in the period and 22 points total in the game. Braden Sherrill was the other Warrior in double figures, scoring 11 points and knocking down 3 3-point shots. Sherrill and Tanner Goldsmith would tie for the team lead in rebounds on the night with 9 a piece.
