Warriors Men Stumble in NWAC East Opener
Walla Walla, WA - It was a heated contest the whole way through, but the Hawks got the best of the Warriors walking away with a 3-1 victory in the opening match of NWAC East play. Scoring started out quick as in the 5th minute of play, the Hawks netted a team goal to take the momentum and early lead. But, things would settle down for the rest of the first half as Columbia Basin's nine shots and Walla Walla's four shots wouldn't find the net and the score held at 1-0 going into the half.
In the second half of action, Columbia Basin was able to find the net in the 57th and 69th minutes to extend their lead to 3-0. After a few balls didn't bounce in the Warriors direction that could have led to scoring opportunities, the Warriors finally got on the board with a goal from Alvaro Castellon, assisted by Danny Gonzalez. For Castellon, the Warriors leading goal scorer, it was his 4th goal in the 2025 season. Danny Gonzalez was highly involved in the Warriors attack, assisting on their lone goal and also putting two shots on goal himself.
