Warrior Men's Soccer Dominates in Win Over Treasure Valley
Walla Walla, WA - It was an impressive 5-0 win for the Warrior Men's Soccer team on Wednesday afternoon over the Chukars of Treasure Valley! With the win, the Warriors move back to .500 overall on the year with a record of 4-4, and improve their NWAC East record to 2-1.
There was no delaying for WWCC as they applied a majority of their pressure to Treasure Valley in the first half of action, kicked off in the 12th minute with a goal from Zaid Arguello who was assisted by goalkeeper Aaron Lowry! For Arguello, the goal was his first in a Warriors uniform. Only three minutes later, Walla Walla would double their lead to 2-0 when Alvaro Castellon took a pass from Cesar Martinez and tucked it past the TVCC keeper. The early onslaught of goals would continue and the tone for the match would officially be set in the 22nd minute of action, this time Cesar Martinez scoring a goal of his own off the assist from Danny Gonzalez. And finally, seven minutes later in the 29th minute, Danny Gonzalez would add a goal to his name capitalizing on the setup by Xavier Cuevas. When the first half whistle blew, Walla Walla found themselves with a 4-0 lead on 12 total shots, while only allowing 3 shots to Treasure Valley.
Much of the same was seen in the second half as Walla Walla continued to pressure the Chukar defense, registering nine more shots and bringing the match total to 21! However, the scoring would slow down and the only ball in the back of the net in the second half would again come from Zaid Arguello, his second of the match, assisted by Danny Gonzalez's second assist of the match. TVCC would only have three more shot attempts in the second half and saw an extremely limited number of opportunities given to them all day by the WWCC defense who didn't concede a corner kick the entire match. Aaron Lowry and Julian Correa split time as goalkeeper for the Warriors, Lowry recording two saves on the only two shots on goal put forth by Treasure Valley.
What's next?
The Warriors will hit the road on Saturday, September 27th for a match against Spokane. Kickoff is slated for 12:00 PM.
