Warrior Men's Soccer Headed to NWAC Postseason for Fourth Consecutive Year
Walla Walla, WA - Despite Saturday's 'Sophomore Night' loss to Spokane, the Walla Walla Community College Men's Soccer team has officially claimed their spot in the 2025 NWAC Soccer Playoffs! With one game remaining in the regular season, the Warriors' record currently sits at 6-5-3 overall and 4-2-3 in the NWAC East, good enough for the third and final spot in the region. WWCC has one final regular season game to play before first year head coach, Abel Bautista, and the rest of the Warriors set their sights on a deep playoff run.
Saturday's match against Spokane was a tough one as not only were the Warriors up against the top team in the NWAC East who are yet to lose a match on the year, but they also had to battle wet, windy conditions on their home pitch on the campus of WWCC. Spokane opened up the scoring in the first half, driving a shot past Warrior keeper Aaron Lowry off of an indirect free kick in the box to make it 1-0. Spokane's second goal wouldn't come until the 81st minute to make the score 2-0, where their defense would lock things down and keep the score where it was until the final whistle of the match. Walla Walla registered two shots on goal in the entirety of the match, so they will look to get back to their attacking ways in the regular season finale to have some momentum to carry on into the postseason.
What's next?
The Warriors travel south to Pendleton, OR to take on Blue Mountain on Wednesday (10/29) with kickoff set for 1:00 PM. Following that match, they will await their draw for the first round of the NWAC Playoffs to find out where they are headed to open up their postseason run.
