Women's Basketball Players Racking Up the Hardware
Magnuson tabbed as East Region MVP to lead the way for Warrior award winners in 2024-2025, Hazeltine Named Coach of the Year
Walla Walla, WA. - The 2024-2025 regular season schedule has come to a close and with that, coaches around the league have gotten together to take a vote on who they saw as the league's top performers. The 2024-2025 NWAC All-Region Selections were announced and the Warriors led the way in recognition across the selected teams.
It all starts at the top and the NWAC East Region Coach of the Year was awarded to none other than our very own, Bobbi Hazeltine. Coach Hazeltine put together a talented roster and has worked tirelessly to bring that talent togehter on and off the floor, resulting in a 23-5 overall season, and only one loss during East Region play (14-1).
As for the players who were recognized by the coaches across the league, like she did as the league's leading scorer, Brielle Magnuson led the way for the Warriors all season long and was deservingly named the NWAC East Region MVP. Magnuson finished the season scoring 19.5 PPG and scored the second most total points in the NWAC at 546.
Two more sophomore standouts, Jaisha Gibb and Sintia Varela, were recognized as all-league performers as well. Jaisha Gibb was voted onto the NWAC East Region 2nd Team even after missing several games due to injury, finishing at just under 12 PPG and shooting nearly 55% from the field. Sintia Varela was named to the NWAC All Defensive Team.
One freshman was recognized for the Warriors in 2024-2025. After also missing some games due to injury, Hadley Fraas was named to the NWAC East Region 2nd Team after finishing at 10.5 PPG and grabbing over 5 rebounds a game.
The Warriors kick off NWAC Tournament play on Thursday, March 6th, 2025 in Pasco, WA against Centralia College at 6:00 PM.
