Warrior Women's Hoops Suffer a Pair of Setbacks in Home Crossover
Walla Walla, WA - The Walla Walla Community College Women's Basketball team hosted an NWAC Crossover this past weekend in the Dietrich Dome on the campus of WWCC. The competition was expected to be tough and it proved to be exactly that as the Warriors were defeated in two of their three matchups, first by Lane in a rematch of last year's NWAC Championship game, and second by the WWCC Alumni Team in the final game of the weekend.
Walla Walla 66 vs. Lane 73 (Friday, December 12)
The opening game of the weekend for Walla Walla was not only a contest between two teams that entered undefeated, but it was also a rematch of the 2025 NWAC Championship Game, where the Warriors were victorious by a 7-point advantage over the Titans. However, Lane would get their revenge in this early-season game, pulling away in the late moments to secure a 7-point win of their own. WWCC claimed the advantage in multiple statistical categories, such as rebounds, points in the paint, and fastbreak points, but a slower-than-desired shooting night that saw the Warriors shoot 34.2% from the field put them behind the scoring pace of an efficient Lane offense. Hadley Fraas had a huge night in the loss for the Warriors, finishing with a double-double including 25 points on 10/15 shooting and 10 rebounds. Averee Osterhout was also in double figures in the game, scoring 14 points in her 36 minutes played.
Walla Walla 81 vs. Shoreline 44 (Saturday, December 13)
The Warriors got back to form on Saturday evening, dominating Shoreline in their second game of the weekend with an 81-44 final score. Not only did the Warriors score 27 points in the first quarter alone, but they also outscored the Dolphins 37-16 in the middle quarters to put this one away before the fourth quarter even began. As a team, Walla Walla shot 46.5% from the field, including 35.3% from 3-point territory, while holding Shoreline to just 38.3% shooting. All 12 of the Warriors that saw the floor in the game registered a point, with Macie Milum setting the pace at 14 points, followed closely by Addy Laible and Logan Sailors, each with 12 points of their own. Ella Johnson had a career night off the bench, scoring a career-high 11 points in 16 minutes of action.
Walla Walla 59 vs. WWCC Alumni 64 (Sunday, December 14)
What Walla Walla and head coach Bobbi Hazeltine expected to be a challenging, but fun and seemingly light-hearted matchup against the WWCC Alumni, ultimately ended up being arguably their toughest test of the weekend. The Alumni gave them all they had left on Sunday and when the final horn sounded, the WWCC Alumni walked away with another victory to complete their undefeated weekend at the Walla Walla Crossover. The Warriors made a run late in the game, outscoring the Alumni 18-12 in the fourth quarter, but the Alumni didn't show any rust at the free throw line to secure the win in the final minute. Logan Sailors scored 18 points and Hadley Fraas added 14 points to combine for over half of Walla Walla's total points. Fraas also totalled 11 rebounds in the game, completing her second double-double of the weekend. For the Alumni, Brie Holecek matched Logan Sailors' 18 points with 18 of her own to lead the squad of returners.
