WWCC Women's Basketball Rebounds in Oregon Swing
Albany, OR - After a tough stretch of games in their final home contests of 2025, the WWCC Women's Basketball team got back on track in major fashion with three wins on the road against South Region opponents. They got the win streak started with a convincing 65-44 victory at Chemeketa before defeating Mt. Hood 88-42, and Linn-Benton 68-42, both on the campus of Linn-Benton in Albany, OR. With the wins, the Warriors saw their overall record improve to 10-2.
Walla Walla 65 vs. Chemeketa 44 (Wednesday, December 17)
After falling slightly behind at the end of the first quarter, the Warriors kicked things into gear outscoring the Storm by nearly 20 points in the middle quarters to earn a 65-44 victory. Walla Walla shot 36.8% from the field, outrebounded Chemeketa 53-31, and was a perfect 11/11 from the free throw line as a team in the game. Macie Milum led the charge with a double-double, scoring 19 points and adding 10 rebounds. Hadley Fraas was the other Warrior in double figures as she finished with 15 points on 6/12 shooting and collected 8 rebounds.
Walla Walla 88 vs. Mt. Hood 42 (Thursday, December 18)
Mt. Hood had no answer for Walla Walla in Thursday's matchup as the Warriors took the lead at the beginning and never gave it up. An impressive 45.3% team shooting night, including 45.5% from 3-point territory, and 41 points from the bench led WWCC to the big win. 11 different Warriors scored in the contest with 4 finishing in double digits: Averee Osterhout (14), Ella Johnson (13), Logan Sailors (13), and Marisela Contreras (10). For Contreras, her 10 points tied her career high set earlier this season against Green River. For Ella Johnson, her 13 points and 10 rebounds were career highs in both categories and helped her register her first career double-double.
Walla Walla 68 vs. Linn-Benton 42 (Friday, December 19)
Walla Walla put an exclamation point on the end of their solid week of games with another convincing victory, this time over the host, Linn-Benton, with a score of 68-42. In contrast to the previous game they played, WWCC's starters set the tone scoring 54 of the team's 68 points. For the second time in the week, Macie Milum led the Warriors in scoring, again with 19 points and 10 rebounds to go with them for the double-double. Logan Sailors finished with 16 points, including knocking down Walla Walla's only 3-pointer of the game, and Hadley Fraas added 11 points to the offensive effort. Addy Laible set the pace for Walla Walla in rebounds, totalling 12 of an incredible 68 that were tallied by the team as a whole.
What's next?
After another short break for the holidays, Walla Walla will head to Lower Columbia College for the LCC Holiday Classic on December 29-31. In the tournament they are set to face off against Umpqua, Peninsula, and Shoreline. These games will be the final tune-up before East Region play begins on January 7!
