Sailors' Big Night Leads Warriors Back to Win Column
Wenatchee, WA - Following a loss in last week's Wednesday matchup against Treasure Valley, the Walla Walla Community College Women's Basketball team got back to their winning ways with an 80-70 victory over Wenatchee Valley on Saturday evening. The game was continuously back and forth with both teams utilizing momentum swings of their own to control things at various points. However, a great effort from Logan Sailors and a dominant fourth quarter for the Warriors led them to the win, their 16th overall on the season and 3rd in NWAC East play.
After a neck and neck first quarter, Walla Walla used a second quarter where they outscored the Knights 26-15 on 40.9% shooting from the field to earn a 42-30 halftime lead. But, Wenatchee Valley responded with a big quarter of their own in the third before WWCC used 15 made free throws in the fourth quarter to reclaim the lead and take home the win. As a team, Walla Walla shot 32.8% from the field to go with 36/51 (70.6%) shooting from the free throw line in the contest. They were also able to out-rebound the Knights 38-27 and scored 20 points off of 13 forced turnovers.
As highlighted, Logan Sailors came up huge for WWCC, finishing with 28 points, including 3 made 3-pointers, while playing all 40 minutes of the game.
