WWCC Women's Hoops Set for Tonight's Action in Spokane Following Saturday Win
Walla Walla, WA - For the Walla Walla Community College Women's Basketball team, tonight's game against Spokane will officially mark the halfway point of the 2025-26 NWAC East season. Ironically, the only team that the Warriors are yet to face is Big Bend, who sits tied at the top of the standings with WWCC with a 5-1 NWAC East record. The Warriors improved to 5-1 on Saturday afternoon after defeating Yakima Valley 85-51 at home in the Dietrich Activity Center, and a win this evening would advance their overall record to 19-3.
In Saturday's contest against Yakima Valley, it was the Yaks that jumped out to the early lead, holding the advantage on the scoreboard for the first five minutes of play. But, with four minutes left in the first quarter, Logan Sailors knocked down a 3-point shot to give the Warriors a 9-6 lead and Walla Walla wouldn't look back, leading for the rest of the game en route to a 34-point victory. As a team, the Warriors shot an impressive 32/68 (47.1%) from the field, including going 6/19 from 3-point range and knocking down 15 of 19 attempted free throws. They also managed to out-rebound Yakima Valley 48-27 and force 12 turnovers that led to 15 points.
For the third game in a row, Logan Sailors set the pace for Walla Walla, this time scoring 29 points and setting a new season-high by a margin of 1 point, which she had scored in the last two games WWCC has played. The freshman from Rocky Mountain High School is now averaging 15.8 points per game on the year and shooting 40.7% from the field. Following closely behind Sailors was Hadley Fraas, who contributed 23 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists to a great all-around team effort by Walla Walla. Addy Laible, the sophomore post from Bishop Kelly High School, ended Saturday's game with a double-double, scoring 11 points and collecting 13 rebounds. For Laible, this was her second double-double on the season!
