WWCC Women's Hoops Takes Down Spokane, Upended by Big Bend
Walla Walla, WA - The Walla Walla Community College Women's Basketball team was on the road last week for their games, first in Spokane on Wednesday where they defeated the Sasquatch 62-46, then in Moses Lake on Saturday where Big Bend was able to hand the Warriors their second NWAC East loss of the season, 60-46. With the split on the week, Walla Walla moves to 19-4 overall and 6-2 in the NWAC East, which puts them in a tie for second with Columbia Basin, only trailing the Vikings of Big Bend.
Walla Walla 62 vs. Spokane 46 (Wednesday, January 28)
An efficient shooting night and lockdown defensive effort from the Warriors helped them cruise to a win over the Spokane Sasquatch last Wednesday. Walla Walla finished the game 23/54 (42.6%) from the field in the game and held Spokane to just 18/62 (29%) from regulation on the other end of the floor. They also out-rebounded Spokane 38-24 in a game where the Warriors took over the lead with 2 minutes left in the first quarter and never relinquished their lead. Logan Sailors, for the fourth game in a row, scored 20+ points, this time ending with 21 points on 7/19 shooting, including making 3 3-pointers. Hadley Fraas was the only other Warrior in double figures in the game as she contributed 17 points, 6 rebounds, and 1 assist.
Walla Walla 46 vs. Big Bend 60 (Saturday, January 31)
The strong shooting by WWCC wasn't able to continue in their Saturday matchup against Big Bend as the Warriors shot just 30.6% from the field en route to a 60-46 loss. The defense kept the game in reach for the first three quarters as things remained tied after 30 minutes of play. However, Big Bend got things going in the fourth quarter, outscoring Walla Walla 25-11 to claim the victory. Again, Logan Sailors set the scoring pace for WWCC, finishing with 11 points as the only Warrior with 10+ points. Hadley Fraas scored 9 points, and Averee Osterhout and Marisela Contreras were the only Warriors to get a 3-point shot to go down in a game where Walla Walla was 2/10 from deep.

The Warriors get a few extra days to regroup with no game on Wednesday, retaking the floor on Saturday to host Blue Mountain for Pink Night! Tipoff is slated for 4 PM from the Dietrich Activity Center.
