Strong Defense Leads Warrior Women to Victory Over Blue Mountain
Walla Walla, WA - The Warrior defense was stout on Saturday night as Walla Walla was able to earn a 70-52 victory over the visiting Blue Mountain Community College Timberwolves. Despite finishing the contest 27/92 (29.3%) from the field, including 3/21 (14.3%) from deep, WWCC led wire to wire as their defense held BMCC to 32.2% shooting and forced 20 turnovers resulting in 19 points. The Warriors were also dominate on the glass, out-rebounding the Timberwolves 55-31 and scoring 21 second chance points.
The Warriors were led by the 21 points of Hadley Fraas who was 9/22 from the field and also collected 11 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals to earn the double-double. Logan Sailors finished the night with 14 points while Addy Laible added 10 points and 9 rebounds herself. Overall, nine different Warriors contributed to the scoring, including five points each off the bench for Marisela Contreras, Dakota Wadsworth, and Tessa Cromar. With the victory, Coach Hazeltine's Warriors eclipse the 20-win mark on the season (20-4 overall) and remain in a tie for second place in the NWAC East with Columbia Basin, trailing closely behind Big Bend.
