Warrior Women's Basketball Takes Down CBC, Claims 2nd Consecutive NWAC East Title
Pasco, WA - The first step in the Walla Walla Community College Women's Basketball team's title defense is officially completed as on Wednesday night, the Warriors defeated the CBC Hawks and claimed the 2025-26 NWAC East Regular Season Championship! With an overall record of 25-4 and an NWAC East record of 12-2, Walla Walla sits at the top of the standings, tied in record with Big Bend, but claiming the NWAC East Championship and #1 seed into the NWAC Tournament due to tiebreakers. For head coach, Bobbi Hazeltine, this is her 12th NWAC East Championship at the head of the program, and her 6th in the last 10 years.
In last night's contest, the Warriors utilized a huge second half performance to build on their 4-point halftime lead and run away with a 77-57 win over the host team, CBC. Walla Walla outscored Columbia Basin 43-27 in the second half, shooting an astounding 57.2% from the field in the two periods combined. On the game, WWCC was 31/63 (49.2%) from the field, including 5/10 from 3-point range and 10/12 from the free throw stripe. They also held the advantage in rebounds (37-33), assists (17-13), points off of turnovers (14-9), 2nd chance points (15-11), points in the paint (42-36), and fastbreak points (10-2). Logan Sailors finished the game as the leading scorer for Walla Walla, contributing 20 points on 8/16 shooting to go with 3 rebounds, 1 assist, and 2 steals. Hadley Fraas turned in a double-double effort with 12 points and 10 rebounds, while Marisela Contreras added 12 points of her own, all by way of the 3-ball.
What's next?
The Warriors will head to the 2026 NWAC Women's Basketball Tournament as the #1 seed from the East Region, joined by #2 Big Bend, #3 Columbia Basin, and #4 Treasure Valley. Their first game in the Sweet 16 round of the tournament is scheduled for Saturday, March 7th where they will face off against Olympic College, the #4 seed from the North Region. Tipoff of that game is slated for 6:00 PM and all games in the NWAC Tournament are set to be played at Holden Court on the campus of Columbia Basin College in Pasco, WA.
