Warrior Women's Soccer Clinches Playoff Spot Despite Loss to Spokane
Walla Walla, WA - With one game remaining in the 2025 regular season, the Walla Walla Community College Women's Soccer team has officially locked up a spot in the NWAC postseason! Saturday's 3-1 loss to Spokane at home moved the Warriors' overall record to 9-4-4 and their NWAC East record to 6-4-1, which locks them in as the third and final team from the East that will be playing postseason soccer. This is the second straight year that WWCC has finished in the 3rd place spot in the NWAC East and moved on to the NWAC Playoffs.
Following a delayed start due to weather, Saturday's 'Sophomore Night' match against Spokane finally got underway and with rainy, blustery conditions, the action in the first half was not lacking. Spokane, the top team in the NWAC East, was able to grab the momentum early with two quick goals, the first in the 15th minute and the second in the 25th minute. However, Jaden Ryan wouldn't let the Warriors' first half remain scoreless as in the 45th minute right before the halftime whistle, she was able to bury a shot to make the halftime score 2-1. The goal was the second on the season in fifteen games played for Ryan, the freshman defender.
In the second half, Spokane got another quick goal out of the halftime break to advance their lead to 3-1, where the score would remain until the final whistle. The Warriors just weren't quite able to find their stride on the attack against a tough Spokane team, registering four total shots on goal in the match.
