Warriors Earn Statement Win in NWAC East Opener
Pasco, WA - The Warrior Women's Volleyball team kicked off their in-region schedule with a bang on Friday night, earning a straight sets victory over the Hawks of Columbia Basin! Columbia Basin is coming off of a 2024 season that saw them at the top of the NWAC East standings with a record of 13-1. This victory for Walla Walla and head coach, Brooke Kaawa, is a huge momentum builder as they look to make some noise this year in a highly competitive region.
The first set would prove to be the closest of the match as the Warriors were able to battle to a narrow 25-23 win in the opener on the road against their rivals. But, from then on it was all Walla Walla, who would win the second and third sets in convincing fashion 25-18 and 25-17 respectively. The victory moves the Warriors to 8-5 overall and 1-0 in NWAC East play on the young season.
Aubree Zimmer led the attack for the Warriors with 10 total kills and 32 total attacks on the night. Both Hailey Buehner and Natalie Evers found themselves highly involved as well, each registering 7 kills to contribute to the team's 37 total kills in the match. Lauryn York was dominant with the serve registering 5 aces, and defensively Rachel Buehner came up with 21 total digs to pace Walla Walla.
