Warrior Volleyball Gets Revenge in Win Over Blue Mountain Following Loss to Yakima Valley
Walla Walla, WA - The past week for Walla Walla Community College Volleyball has been not only busy, but highly exciting for numerous reasons. Last Friday, the Warriors competed hard in a back and forth contest against Yakima Valley, ultimately losing a heartbreaker in five sets to the Yaks. However, last night on the road at Blue Mountain they would get back to shape with a straight sets victory improving their East Region record to 2-2 after four games played.
Walla Walla 2 vs. Yakima Valley 3 (Friday, September 26)
The Warriors came out swinging in their first NWAC East match at home with a convincing 25-12 first set win over the visiting Yaks of Yakima Valley. However, the tides would turn in set two as it was Yakima Valley collecting a 25-13 win to even the match at one set a piece. For the rest of the night, the teams would trade blows, back and forth, ultimately leading to an electric fifth and final set. Walla Walla would jump out in front of the match-deciding set with an 11-3 lead, but couldn't find the finishing points, dropping the set and match with a 17-15 score.
Natalie Evers had a big night at the net for the Warriors finishing with 13 kills on 28 total attacks. Aubree Zimmer would also add 12 kills to the formiddable Walla Walla attack.
Walla Walla 3 vs. Blue Mountain 0 (Wednesday, October 1)
Last night was all Warriors the whole way as following the brief trip south to Pendleton, Walla Walla would make quick work of the Timberwolves winning the match in straight sets. The first set would end up being the closest one of the night with the Warriors earning the victory 25-19, before winning the second and third sets as well 25-17 and 25-16 respectively.
Again, it was Aubree Zimmer and Natalie Evers leading the Walla Walla attack. Zimmer was incredibly efficient at the net, finishing with a team-high 13 kills on 19 total attacks, Evers adding 7 kills on 10 attacks of her own. Lauryn York continued to do damage at the serve as she would lead the Warriors in aces with 4.
What's next?
The Warrior Volleyball team is back home on Friday night in the Dietrich Dome with a matchup against Wenatchee Valley. The match is slated to get started at 6:00 PM.
