Walla Walla overcomes Wenatchee in 3-set win

WENATCHEE — First-place Walla Walla Community College overcame a few mistakes to win all three sets against Wenatchee Valley, 25-20, 25-20 and 25-16, in their Northwest Athletic Conference volleyball match here Wednesday.

The Warriors (16-6 overall, 7-0 in the NWAC East Region) extended their winning streak to eight matches.

Walla Walla is one loss ahead of North Idaho (12-11, 7-1) in the NWAC East standings, while Wenatchee drops to 0-4 in league play, 7-15 overall.

“We didn’t play our best, but it’s great to get a win on the road in a tough environment,” WWCC coach Chelsie Speer said. “I’m proud of the girls for staying calm and composed.”

WWCC freshman Morgan Ness managed to put together a strong performance with 12 kills, sophomore Dani Burke contributed 19 assists, and classmate Alexis Garrison added 14 assists.

Warriors sophomore Sam Grove made five blocks, while classmate Savannah Ruark added three and sophomore Tori Wegdahl made 18 digs, and freshman Lindsey Carpenter had 12.

The Warriors return to action Friday, when they host Treasure Valley.
