ONTARIO — Walla Walla Community College completed its regular season schedule with a pivotal sweep at Treasure Valley, 25-18, 25-16 and 25-16, in a Northwest Athletic Conference (NWAC) volleyball match here Tuesday.

The Warriors (26-8 overall, 14-2 in the East) ended up tied with North Idaho College atop regional standings, but having defeated NIC twice this season, earned the East’s top seed into the conference tournament starting Nov. 17.

“I’m really pround of this group,” WWCC coach Chelsie Speer said. “This is a tough region, so I’m proud of them pulling together. We needed to win that match and end this regular season on a good note going into the NWAC tournament.”

Walla Walla freshman Morgan Ness scored 18 kills, while sophomore Savannah Ruark (a Pomeroy High School graduate) added 10.

Warriors sophomore Dani Burke led the way with 22 assists, classmate Tori Wegdahl hustled to make 23 digs, and freshman Cheyan James added four blocks.

The double-elimination tournament will begin next Thursday and stretch over four days at the Greater Tacoma Trade and Convention Center.
