Warriors fall to Spokane

SPOKANE — Previously frontrunning Walla Walla Community College lost its second straight match and slipped to second place in division standings with a three-set loss to Spokane, 25-17, 25-14 and 25-23, in Northwest Athletic Conference East Division volleyball action here Wednesday.

The Warriors (24-8 overall, 12-2 in the East Division) dropped behind North Idaho, which swept Wenatchee Valley.

Meanwhile, third-place Spokane pulled to within two games of WWCC with two matches left in the regular season.

“We struggled again with holding leads when we had them and playing with high energy,” WWCC coach Chelsie Speer said. “Spokane played very well.”

Walla Walla freshman Morgan Ness scored nine kills, while sophomore Samantha Grove tallied eigth kills and made four blocks.

Warriors sophomore and Pomeroy High graduate Savannah Ruark added eight kills, and fellow sophomore Dani Burke contributed 24 assists.

The Warriors return to action Friday, when WWCC hosts Wenatchee.
