Warriors net three-set win over Sasquatch, in tie for third place

SPOKANE — Ocean Bryan scored 14 kills, Ashlin Orosco added 13 kills and Lindsey Carpenter had 11 for Walla Walla Community College’s volleyball team as the Warriors tied Spokane for third place in the East with their sweep in Northwest Athletic Conference action here on Wednesday.

WWCC (22-14 overall, 7-4 in the region) picked up the seventh victory in its last nine matches as the Warriors used everybody to finish off Spokane in straight sets, 25-12, 25-19 and 25-14.

“This was a great team win tonight,” Warriors coach Cheslie Speer said. “I’m really proud of our entire team, all 18 of them, for their commitment to continue to work on getting better everyday.”

Walla Walla has a week before its next league match, hosting Big Bend this Wednesday; however, the Warriors can stay in tune over the weekend at the Dig Pink Crossover in Edmonds, Wash., on Saturday and Sunday.

The Warriors will go fresh off Wednesday’s dominating performance.

Abbey Schwager put together another big night for Walla Walla, dishing 40 assists and hustling after six digs. The Boise native had earned conference Player of the Week honors on Oct. 11 with 79 assists over six sets.

Teammate Hannah Pond made 12 digs at Spokane while Kynady Greear tallied seven seven kills and four blocks. Orosco chipped in three blocks as Bryan and Carpenter each had two.
