BELLEVUE, Wash. — Walla Walla Community College snapped a seven-match losing skid with a 3-2 victory over Shoreline at a volleyball showcase here on Wednesday.
The day started with Bellevue handing the Warriors their seventh loss in a row as the Bulldogs finished them off in four sets.
Action was tight as Bellevue took the opener, 26-24, before Walla Walla bounced back to even the match with a 25-20 victory in the second set.
Walla Walla nearly added another win in the third set but fell short in a 25-23 loss, and the Bellevue clinched the overall victory with a 25-18 decision in the finale.
The Warriors shrugged off the loss as they jumped into a back-and-forth battle against Shoreline and took their first set, 25-17.
After the Dolphins then evened things up with a 25-23 victory in the second set, Walla Walla came back to take the third, 25-17.
The Warriors had an opportunity to clinch their first match victory in a week, but Shoreline forced a final showdown with its 25-19 win in the fourth set.
Nevertheless, Walla Walla held on to take the deciding set, 15-11.
The Warriors are back in action today with two early matches at Bremerton, Wash. They faced Olympic at 10 a.m. and then Clark at noon.
