Warriors take care of Hawks in 4

PASCO — Columbia Basin won the opening set of an NWAC East volleyball match with Walla Walla Community College here on Wednesday, but the Warriors swept the next three for the victory.

Walla Walla won 21-25, 25-14, 25-18 and 25-20.

“Columbia Basin played a great first set,” Warrior coach Chelsie Speer said. “They were scrappy and blocking well. That’s always a tough place to play and they play well at home. I am happy with our fight and ability to pull out a great team win after being down.”

Lindsey Carpenter had 14 kills for WWCC, Savannah Ruark had nine kills and six blocks, and Cheyan James had eight kills.

Alexis Garrison dished 20 assists and came up three Warrior blocks, Dani Burke had 21 assists and 13 digs, and Tori Wegdahl had 17 digs.

The Warriors, still undefeated in NWAC East play at 10-0, and 22-6 overall, go to Big Bend on Friday.

“We know that the more we win, the harder it’s going to get everytime we play,” Speer said. “Teams will bring their best against us. We have to continue to strive for excellence in practice to be prepared for competition.”
