Warriors win 6 of 7 matches, take 3rd Place

The WWCC volleyball team placed third at its Northwest Athletic Conference Crossover tournament, going 6-1 in Friday and Saturday matches.

 

WWCC swept through Friday competition with two-set wins over Shoreline 25-18 and 25-19, Lane 25-14 and 25-17, and then Highline 25-13 and 25-21.

 

On Saturday, the Warriors defeated Centralia in four sets 25-15, 25-13, 15-25 and 25-19.

 

The Warrior lost to Blue Mountain in three sets 23-25, 16-25 and 22-25, but scored comeback wins over Shoreline 22-25, 27-25 and 16-14, as well as Linn-Benton 22-25, 25-15 and 15-10.

 

Emmah Peterson finished the weekend with 60 kills and 21 blocks for WWCC, while teammate Ocean Bryan had 46 kills and 16 blocks.

 

Abbey Schwager

Abbey Schwager had 173 assists and 49 digs as she made the all-tournament team.

 

Tia Takasaki gave WWCC another 55 digs, while Kacey Halbert added 54.

 

“I’m proud of how this team fought this weekend and battled through adversity,” Warriors coach Chelsie Speer said.

 

The Warriors’ next home game is this coming Friday against Wenatchee Valley at 6 p.m.
