Game One – Saturday, March 1st
Walla Walla 70, Skagit Valley 46 stats
Skagit Valley could only hand with the Warriors for the opening five minutes before WWCC ran away with the game for a 24 point victory over the Cardinals.
Walla Walla scorched the nets for 24 three pointers and out rebounded SVC 57-31.
Four Warriors tallied 13 or more points lead by Karli McHone’s 18 and MeShel Rad’s 16. Amy DeLong and (13 pts, 11 rebounds) and Jessica Siler (13 pts, 18 rebounds) both registered double-doubles.
Linda Wilson led the Cardinals with 13 points.
Game Two – Sunday, March 2nd
Umpqua 81, Walla Walla 72 stats
With the exception of a few scuffles in the middle, Umpqua controlled their quarterfinal game with Walla Walla nearly from start to finish, leading for much of both quarters and pulling away to move past the Warriors and into the quarterfinals on Monday evening.
It was a typical game from the Riverhawks: balanced scoring, excellent rebounding and solid accuracy from three-point range. Umpqua scored the first six points of the contest, and though Walla Walla rallied back to take a few slim leads of their own, the Riverhawks found themselves leading by six once again at 26-20 with 6:17 remaining in the first half.
Walla Walla answered once again, tying the game on a pair of free throws from Jessica Siler with just over a minute to play. The Riverhawks got a bucket from Kayla Bice, but Siler scored with just 16 seconds on the clock to tie things up at the break.
The Warriors tied the game again at 35 early in the second period, but seconds later, Umpqua’s Romanalyn Incencio nailed a three pointer to break the stalemate, and the Riverhawks never looked back. A 13-2 run midway through the second half put Umpqua up by 12, and though Walla Walla fought to within four points with 4:24 to play, they couldn’t get any closer and fell by nine, dropping into the battle for fifth place.
Guard Kyndal Charleston led the Riverhawks with 21 points on 5/10 shooting from downtown. Ashli Payne had 11 points and 10 boards for the lone double-double from Umpqua, who will face Blue Mountain on Monday evening at 6 p.m. in the semifinals.
Siler led the Warriors on both ends of the floor, netting a game-high 23 points, to go along with 10 rebounds, two steals and an assist. Walla Walla will play Clark on Monday afternoon at 2 p.m. in a battle for fifth place.
