Marquel Greene poured in 19 points to lead four players in double figures as Walla Walla Community College defeated Blue Mountain 88-37 Saturday in Northwest Athletic Conference women’s basketball action here.
Cierra Jo McKeown tallied 15 points, Cheyan James burned twine for 12 and Jade Skidmore splashed in 10 for the Warriors.
“It was Sophomore Day and the focus was on all seven getting playing time,” said Warriors coach Bobbi Hazeltine. “The focus was on them. It was a really good team win. Marquel Greene had a big game for us. Cheyan James contributed too.
“We were really happy this win clinched a spot in the tournament and that we are able to extend our season.”
The Warriors’ stifling defense held the Timberwolves (1-11 NWAC, 3-16 overall) to just 22 percent shooting from the field. WWCC hit a sizzling 11 of 23 from three-point land with Marquel Greene five of seven as a key to the lopsided victory.
The Warriors held a commanding 71-34 edge on the boards, with Skidmore ripping down 19.
