Warrior women get by Wenatchee

WENATCHEE — MeShel Rad went 17-for-18 at the free throw line en route to 23 points to lead Walla Walla Community College to a 53-44 victory over Wenatchee Saturday.

As a team, the Warriors shot 32-of-45 from the line, getting more than half their points from the charity stripe while limiting the Knights to just 11 attempts at the line, of which they hit nine.

That proved important, as the Warriors had difficulty hitting shots from the field.

“It was back-and-forth the whole game,” WWCC coach Bobbi Hazeltine said. “The biggest lead was the final score. We shot 25 percent from the field and 8 percent from three. We couldn’t make a shot to save our lives.”

Amy DeLong added 11 points and Bailey Nygaard had nine.

The Warriors (8-2 in NWAACC play) will take to the floor again in Wednesday at 6 p.m. Wednesday’s game will be Breast Cancer Awareness night, and fans are encouraged to wear pink.
