Warriors take East Region lead with win

COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho — Cierra Jo McKeown splashed in 17 points and Jade Skidmore tallied 14 points and corralled 17 rebounds as Walla Walla Community College defeated North Idaho College 76-67 in Northwest Athletic Conference women’s basketball action Saturday.

Kortney Hutchinson added 11 points for the Warriors. WWCC outrebounded North Idaho 55-36 as a contributing factor in the win.

WWCC worked its way to a 17-point lead at one point, but North Idaho cut that down to six, before free throws sealed the game for the Warriors.

Cierra Dvorak had 19 points to lead North Idaho (13-13, 6-9 NWAC).

“We have one regular season game left, and it feels good to be tied for the league lead with Spokane,” Walla Walla coach Bobbi Hazeltine commented. “McKeown had a great second half, Skidmore played well and Hutchinson played very strong off the bench.”

WWCC (20-4, 13-2 NWAC) next plays at Treasure Valley Wednesday.
