Walla Walla Community College women’s basketball standout and Touchet graduate Cierra Jo McKeown was named the Baden Sports NWAC Women’s Basketball Player of the Year after leading the Warriors to the NWAC title this season.
McKeown averaged 23.6 points per game (second in the NWAC), while shooting 50 percent from the field, 44 percent from 3-point range (led NWAC), and made 88 percent of her free throws (led NWAC).
She made 133 3-pointers this season (led NWAC), which shattered WWCC’s single-season record of 93 treys made that she set as a freshman.
McKeown scored 45 points in the NWAC semifinal, breaking the school single-game record of 44, and she was two points shy of the NWAC tournament single-game record.
She led WWCC to a 32-1 record and an NWAC title, while setting a record with 30 straight wins.
McKeown has signed to play women’s basketball for UC Davis next season.
