0-0 draw earns Warriors spot in NWAC Playoffs

The Walla Walla Community College women’s soccer team had its scoring drought continue with a 0-0 stalemate against Columbia Basin in an NWAC match here on Wednesday.

For WWCC, it was the third consecutive game without a goal.

But with the Warrior defense salvaging a scoreless draw — enough for a point in East region standings on the final day of the regular season — WWCC ended up holding off a victorious Yakima Valley for the last seed to the NWAC Championship Tournament.

The tie also nudged WWCC (11-4-3 overall, 8-3-3 in the East) into a tie for second place with North Idaho, which lost to champion Spokane on Wednesday.

WWCC next will play at Lane on Wednesday for a spot in the NWAC Championship quarterfinals.

The Warriors finished their regular season with another scoreless draw after one at North Idaho on Saturday.

Warrior goalie Danielle Dowd made one save.

Walla Walla had a slight 8-7 edge in shots.
