Clark beats WWCC women in thriller, 5-4

After battling to a 2-all tie at halftime, Walla Walla Community College’s women’s soccer team were edged by Clark in the second half as the visiting Penguins took a 5-4 victory.

Clark scored five minutes into the match, but Warriors Hannah Thompson (10 minutes) and Tate Kautzky (15) gave WWCC a 2-1 lead.

The Penguins then scored three the next three goals before Warrior Chelsea Marozik scored in the 62nd minute. But WWCC had an own goal in the 70th minute to give Clark a 5-3 lead, and Daisy Nateras’ final Warrior goal left the home team a score short.

Jeanette Alvarado had three saves in goal in the match, while the Penguins’ Sarah Kaufman had five.

Walla Walla hosts Lower Columbia at 11 a.m. on Wednesday.
