Kubista records shutout for Warrior women

EUGENE, Ore. — Goalie Paige Kubista recorded a shutout as Walla Walla Community College blanked Pierce 3-0 in a Northwest Athletic Conference Friendlies women’s soccer game here Saturday.

The Warriors wasted little time taking control of the match. With an assist from sophomore midfielder Daisy Nateras, Jessica Garcia, a freshman forward from Eltopia, blasted in a shot at the three-minute mark. The 1-0 lead held up until well into the second half when freshman forward from Kennewick Erin Leseberg found net at the 62-minute mark off an assist from Brittany Hanson.

Hanson, a freshman forward from La Grande, Ore., continued her generosity with an assist at the 69-minute mark, when a goal by Sadie Blaisdell, a sophomore midfielder from St. George, Utah, helped the Warriors put the game on ice.

The WWCC defense was stingy. Kubista, a freshman from Nampa, Idaho, recorded just two saves on the day.
