Warrior women fall to North Idaho

Walla Walla Community College followed its biggest scoring outburst of the season with a drought.

The Warriors suffered a 3-0 loss to North Idaho in their Northwest Athletic Conference women’s soccer match here Wednesday, only four days after Walla Walla’s 11-1 win at Yakima.

Walla Walla (10-3-2 overall, 6-2-1 in the region) remained third in the East standings, but the loss gave North Idaho and Spokane more cushion in their first-place tie. Fourth-place Treasure Valley (4-5-1) defeated Blue Mountain to creep a little closer to WWCC.

North Idaho took a 1-0 lead at the eighth minute, but then defense dominated the rest of the match.

North Idaho goalie Tiegan Horton needed six saves to record the shutout.

WWCC goalie Paige Kubista made two saves to keep the Warriors close, until North Idaho scored two more goals late in the second half.

North Idaho scored in the 80th minute, and added another six minutes later.

The Warriors host Blue Mountain on Saturday.
