Warriors dominate 2nd half for win over Hawks

PASCO — Walla Walla Community College scored three second-half goals here in NWAC East Region women’s soccer action Saturday. The second-half rally broke a 0-0 tie at the half and propelled the Warriors to a 3-0 win over Columbia Basin.

Madison Brownell, on a feed from Haley Wammock, broke the scoreless tie with a goal to give the Warriors a 1-0 lead in the 48th minute. Five minutes later, Sally Culig got loose for the Warriors and found the back of the net for a 2-0 Warrior lead in the 53rd minute. Wammock put this one out of reach with an unassisted score in the 82nd minute for the final 3-0 Warrior margin.

 

The Warriors out shot the Hawks 7-3 in the second half, 9-5 for the game. The Warriors got eight shots on goal, but Hawk goalie Kaile Kauanui knocked five of those away.

 

The Hawks got three shots on goal, but Danielle Dowd, in net for Walla Walla, kept all three out of the net.

 

The win improves the Warriors to 4-2-1 in the East. The Warriors trail East leader, 5-0-2 Spokane by four points.

 

The Warriors travel to Wenatchee Valley Wednesday.
