TUKWILA, Wash. — The Walla Walla Community College women’s soccer team opened its 2018 campaign with a 2-1 loss to Clark in a friendly match at the Starfire Complex here on Thursday.
The Warriors, who won the NWAC Eastern Region title last year with a perfect 14-0 record and finished the regular season 18-0-1 before falling to Tacoma in the NWAC quarterfinals, play Peninsula in another friendly at 2 p.m. today.
The Penguins’ Turner Joy opened scoring on Thursday in the 18th minute off an assist from Jenna Young.
The Warriors’ Taylen Wohl had an unassisted goal nine minutes later, and the team went to halftime tied at 1-all.
But Clark’s Sierra Nerton took a Hannah Eakins pass for the game-winner at the 70-minute mark.
The Penguins outshot WWCC, 21-16.
Warrior goalie Danielle Dowd recorded seven saves in nine Penguins shots on goal.
