WWCC dominates Yakima women

YAKIMA — Walla Walla Community College came out blazing here Saturday morning in NWAC East Region women’s soccer action. The Warriors scored three goals in the first 13 minutes, and the Yaks never recovered as the Warriors raced to an 11-1 win.

Haley Berryman, on her way to a first half hat trick, started the onslaught in the 4th minute with her first of five goals on the day. Jessica Garcia scored two minutes later, then Berryman connected for her second in the 13th minute to give the Warriors a commanding 3-0 lead.

“Today, the girls started fast and finished strong,” WWCC coach Jordan Hacker said. “We played a fantastic team game today. The girls executed our game plan flawlessly.”

Daisy Nateras got into the Warrior act in the 22nd minute and Berryman completed her first-half hat trick in the 24th minute. Sadie Blaisdell and Brittany Hanson completed the Warrior first half scoring as WWCC went to the break up 7-0.

Berryman started the second half, where she finished the first. Berryman fired home goals in the 56th and 60th minutes for a 9-0 Warrior lead. Kylee Platt and Erin Leseberg completed the Warrior scoring before the Yaks got on the board in the 78th.

“Haley is a great player and leader,” Hacker added. “She has been doing great for us all year.

“I’m very happy with (the first) 84 minutes,” Hacker continued. “We will fix the last six before we play North Idaho Wednesday.”

The Warriors improve to 6-1-1 in the East and host 7-0-0 North Idaho Wednesday at 4:15 p.m.
