WWCC women pick up 13th soccer shutout

PASCO — Paige Kubista had to make only one save as Walla Walla Community College picked up its 13th shutout victory of the season with a 2-0 win over Columbia Basin in Northwest Athletic Conference women’s soccer action here on Wednesday.

Having already clinched the regional crown, Walla Walla (18-0-1 overall, 14-0 in the East) finished its regular season with 10 days to rest and prepare for its next match.

The Warriors will learn their opponent when Tacoma and Clackamas square off on Nov. 1 in the first round of the conference championship tournament, and then host the winner for a quarterfinal on Nov. 4.

Kubista faced little pressure at Columbia Basin, with the Hawks taking only one shot all day.

Jennifer Inions put Walla Walla ahead in the 33rd minute when she scored off an assist from Emily Thornton.

Five minutes later, Hannah Thompson doubled the Warriors’ lead with an unassist goal.
